The Brewers Dinner is an annual fund-raiser barbecue for the Oregon Brewers Guild. In 2008, it will be held on the eve of the Oregon Brewers Festival . This year’s dinner will then be on Wednesday July 23rd. Proceeds from the dinner help the Guild perform its mission of spreading the word about our great native Oregon beers.

The dinner is also one of the key events in Oregon’s Craft Beer Month. Brewers participating in the festival will be in attendance, as will beer writers, brewers, beer industry suppliers and beer lovers from across the country and around the world. This informal gathering is a great chance to meet many of the biggest names in American craft brewing. Attendance at this “intimate party” is going to be limited to 600 people, down 150 people from 2007. Tickets for this year’s dinner will be on sale for $50 for general admission.

The menu for 2008 will include Pork Loin, Smoked Salmon, roasted potato and veggie medley, dinner rolls and a rich Chocolate Stout chocolate brownie.

There will be approximately 24 beers, brewed and donated by the Brewery Members of the Oregon Brewers Guild, available at the dinner. All of these beers are special beers that will not be available at the festival. But choose your beers carefully, no additional beer scrip will be available after your initial six.

OREGON BREWERS GUILD CELEBRATES OREGON CRAFT BEER
MONTH WITH KICK-OFF EVENT AT THE HORSE BRASS PUB

It’s official, with a proclamation from Governor Ted Kulongoski, July is Oregon Craft Beer Month. The Oregon Brewers Guild is ready to get the month-long party started right with an official kick-off event at Portland’s Horse Brass pub. Don Younger and the Horse Brass team have searched far and wide for a selection of new releases, world premier exclusives, rare and vintage beers to commemorate the special occasion. All told, there will be 20-25 taps of these truly memorable Oregon beers. The first keg to be tapped will be a firkin of Kolsch 55 from Rock Bottom Brewery by Oregon Brewers Guild President Van Havig.

With more than 120 beer events taking place across the state in July – 23 events on July 1st alone - there are plenty of opportunities for craft beer aficionados to celebrate Oregon’s craft brewing industry at their local pubs.
